Finally managed to log in to post something.
I've started on my new job for a week and can you believe it I'm coming home late!
Haha, yeap!
Well, it's not their culture to bring work home which I fully appreciate since the birth of Kylie.
It's another way of having work life balance I guess.
I quite like the company.
The people there are really nice!

Anyway, I was reading a friend's blog prior to this and she recently gave birth!
Congrats to her!
Looking at the photos reminded me of Kylie half a year back and the struggles I had.
I was just telling Mr Look yesterday that I'm wondering if I want to go through it again.
I guess I will sometime down the road.
Off to get ready for work.

Reflections...

Yes, I know it's not the end of the year as yet but these last few weeks I've been contemplating writing this post.

Reason why I've been contemplating is because this post is relatively personal especially with this blog being an open blog.

I seriously thank God every single day recently for the past 6 months I've had.
It was a pretty rocky start and although I tried to put up a strong front, it hasn't been easy on me and probably those around me as well.
Basically, it all started before Kylie came along.
My company announced a major restructure just as I was about to go deliver my darling daughter.
On top of that fear of losing my job, I had gone into a slight post natal depression as you'd probably noticed in my blog posts.
It wasn't Kylie, she was relatively easy baby and I had great help (just that I was too blinded by my personal expectations at that point of time).
As a first time mum, it's always easy to say that I'm going to take it easy but when the circumstances hit you, it's not EASY at all!
All the breastfeeding, the sleepless nights, the working husband, the in-laws and especially the EXPECTATIONS! It all amounts up to a mountain of issues!
Add on the need to find a new job fast!
It was seriously horrible!

But like I said, I do thank God for all these 'issues'.
Looking on the super bright side, I managed to spend the first 6 months of Kylie's infancy with her at home.
Best thing, I'm earning a salary too.
The other thing is that I also managed to keep her on breastmilk for a full 6 months.
Whatever more months that she's going to be on breastmilk is an added bonus to me.
My initial plan was to only feed her breast milk for 6 months although when the issue of not spending time with her occurred, I had plan to shorten it to 4 months.
I also managed to feed her her first food.
I've got great help at home despite of the occasional 'issues' that occurs but nonetheless I know I can go to work without needing to really worry about Kylie as she's in great hands.
I also keep reminding myself of my great hands-on husband who really deserve to go on his guy's holiday soon.
Great support from a close confidante of mine whose always there to listen when I need her to.

In life, there's many great things that happen to each and every one of us.
Some times we are just too blinded by the bad/sad things that happen to us that we do not appreciate the finer things.
Having loved ones by our sides and having the time to spend with these loved ones (we need to make the time!).
I do agree it's easier said than done to appreciate the good that we have and not harp on the bad that happen.
But every time something good happen don't we always take it for granted?
Yes, I'm typing out this post to remind myself to be grateful and to give thanks.
If you happen to stumble and read this do remind yourself to give thanks today.

I'm starting on a new job soon and I'll need to prepare Kylie to get used to not having mummy around that often. But knowing she has both her grandparents around her 24/7 (almost there) I'm comforted to know that she'll be fine!

RWS weekend stay!

This was probably Kylie's first 'night-out' with us.

All I can say is she slept pretty well in the middle of the King sized bed.

The day however did not start out well with multiple hiccups which I shall try not to recall.

Let's say it's a lesson learnt.

Back to the hotel stay at Festive Hotel.

Check-in was pretty fuss free since it was the super long weekend.

The room we took was the family room and it was pretty huge.

1 King bed, 1 queen pull out sofa bed (on the floor) and 1 single 'up-the-ladder bed'.

Room was pretty spacious but no bath tub in the toilet.

Only qualm is that they only gave us 2 sets of everything and I had to call for more towels and toothbrushes.

Not that big a problem as the housekeeping was pretty prompt despite the big crowd in the hotel.

Sad to say, we are letting the tub go due to the 'water' cost!

After her milk, we headed down for dinner at Imperial Treasure La Mian Xiao Long Bao.

Kylie got pretty cranky in the middle of the dinner as it was her zzzz time!

My FIL and Mr Look had to take turns to carry her and eventually during dessert she gave up and fell asleep.

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience with the entire family albeit some disappointment in the beginning.

Looking forward to going to USS after December!

Now that Kylie's a little bigger and her timings are easier to catch, we obviously had a little more gatherings.

This TWG hi-tea was with my mum and sisters.

Basically just to catch up after the last meetup at Christine's birthday.

We didn't do much that day since Kylie was cranky too.

Once a year in September, we celebrate 2 mummies birthday - my mum and my aunt.

Their birthdays are just a day apart!

What better way to get together.

Well, we are pretty close with my cousins since we literally grew up together and now that we have our own families we hardly see each other.

I hope Kylie will be as close to her cousins as I've been with mine.

I've taken a super long hiatus from blogging.
The reason being that there's been some issues in my life that I have got to take care of first.
I'm pretty glad that it's all worked out well and I truly am blessed in that sense.

I've managed to accompany Kylie till she turns 6 months this month and see her through her semi solid phase.
I'm also starting on a new job soon.
I will be leaving Kylie in the good hands on my parent in laws.
I get to travel.
I found out some 'secrets'.
A understanding husband whose always been there.
A family to fall back on though sometimes they irk me (pretty normal).
A very well-behaved daughter which I thank God every day for (she has occasional tantrums but it's pretty managable).
Friends whom I found out are true friends.
Overall, I think the past 6 months have groomed me into a newer and hopefully better Ivy.

I've got loads to catch up on so expect more postings about events that had already happened.
Of course, many photos of Kylie.
I've not been playing much with my makeup due to the need to carry my darling but going forward I will certainly be doing more posts on FOTD and LOTD (I've been doing massive shopping sprees for myself and Kylie). Maybe I should do Kylie's LOTD too =P

Kylie's first visit back to where I grew up - my mum's house.

I just realised it's almost 2 weeks since my last post.

Things have been slightly crazy due to work but it's slowed down.

Kylie's been doing great with the occasional cranky outbursts but other than than she's been a really good girl.

I'm probably at one of the toughest crossroads of my life now.

Thinking of staying home for Kylie till she turns 6-8 months old.

She's growing at such a rapid speed it was like only yesterday I was carrying her in my arms for the first time!

Every time I come into office and head home to see her she has grown a little (within a span of 8 hours).

I'm not joking.

I love my work but I love her more.

I guess I'll have to work some thing out on this front.

On my makeup front, well, after the sprees at the Kanebo sales and Bobbi Brown (last month), I made a promise to Mr Look that I will cease to buy makeup for a year!

Yes, I can't believe I said that too! Hahaha!

Oh well, I've stopped for close to a month now.

Let's see how long I can last -_-"

Went to Royal China over the weekend to celebrate my MIL's birthday over Dim Sum Lunch.

The dim sum was good and not that expensive.

Had some all time favorites such as Char Siew Bao, Scallop Fun cheong (I can eat seafood!) etc.

Ami bought Kylie some Lamaze toys after I told her about a BP online where the stocks were from China.

Lamaze toys are mostly made in China (what isn't right) but I felt uncomfortable getting from an unknown source.

So Ami surprised me on National Day with an SMS saying she bought some toys for Kylie.

She's growing up super duper quickly.

Melted my heart immediately.

So, should I stay home for the next 2-3 more months just to be with her?

Anyway, next month will be a super busy month - 2 close friend's wedding, 2 family birthdays, Kylie's 4th month jab and I don't know what else the month of September have installed for me.

Watching the NDP this year, I think back to the days where I participated as a performer for the combined choir.
It was definitely not easy having to practice 4-5 months before the August date came, having my weekends burnt for rehearsal and not to mention being under the hot scorching sun till I look like a Malay.
Thinking back it was all well worth the sweat.
Also, I miss the old national stadium
I'm very privileged to have been to multiple parades in my life.
I will always remember seeing the Kallang wave go round the old stadium (something you can't see on the floating platform) and also the sea of lights opposite when the night falls.
These sights are as mesmerizing as it gets.
Haha I remember one particular parade where a guy friend used the fireworks as an open window to ask me to be his girlfriend. Sweet but he wasn't someone I had any inclination towards but it was a nice try.

Kudos to all the peeps who made this year's NDP a successful one.

The last time we met for a birthday earlier this year, I was mid section heavy with Kylie in my tummy.

This time round, I was top heavy with milk in my breasts!

Hahaha!

Jokes aside, my sisters and I met at Ootoya inside Orchard Central.

I think it's the mummy syndrome, I can't remember how to get there until I checked google!

Bobbi Brown Tortoise Shell Collection Class.

I was looking forward to trying the new Bobbi Brown concealer which was launched some time back.

When I heard of the launch of the Tortise shell collection and the makeup class with the S$150 registration fee redeemable on products, I immediately asked Ami if she was interested!

The class was held on the 4th floor of Raffles City in a temporary house.

With natural sunlight shining through, I had a chance to see the products on my face in natural lighting and not store lighting.

I was really excited about this cause most of the time the store lighting changes the product colors and when I reach home I find that it's not my shade.

We went for the Bobbi Brown 10 step lesson.

When we arrived, the beauty products were all laid out and the SAs there went on to get us our shades of foundation, concealer and powder.

We prep-ed our skin with cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye cream, sunblock and lip balm.

Than went on with the 10 steps of makeup.

My hands were too busy to take any photos during the process but we did learn some maekup application processes.

Along with the redeemable fee, we were each given a box of cupcakes to bring home.

I love their sticker. Haha.

Well, they look nice but tastes so-so only.

Instead of trying the corporate look (which was the theme for the class), I chose to try on a red shaded lipstick.

It didn't look that pouty on me actually.

Not sure how come it turned out like Angelina Jolie here.

FYI, Ami said like sausage!

The 2 of us wearing the complimentary tortise shell glasses.

This lips looked more subtle.

The Tortise Shell collection consisted of 2 palettes and a mini brush set which (sadly) did not appeal to me as I felt the shades can be duplicated with the current palettes I have and the brushes were a tad too small for my liking.

So, I went and got the following items with the S$150 voucher.

Corrector in Peach, Concealer in Natural and the concealer brush.

The SA initially gave me the corrector in Bisque but it turned out ashy on me so we tried Peach and it worked out well!

The SA sold us the Tortise Shell Beauty Kit (S$129) which was valued at S$350.

I was sold on the Beach Shimmer Brick!

Well, I had always wanted a Shimmer Brick and it's usually selling at S$80.

Moreover, it came with a Toffee Lip color, Rose Gold Shimmer Lip gloss, Eyeliner in Black Ink with the brush and the Extreme Party Mascara.

With S$200 purchase, we were entitled to a free gift of a black patent pouch with the words 'Bobbi Brown' embossed on it, a clear lip gloss and a lip crayon in Naked Pink.

I tried the lip crayon on the back of my hand and absolutely love the color and creamy texture of it!

Can't wait to use these babies!

Cozycot Kanebo Sale Haul.

Once the mailer was out, the date was set!

Ami arranged with me and we headed down to Orchard (armed with cash).

Cozycot was having a Kanebo sale and I read on Haru's blog (as always, thanks dear Iris for the updates) that Lunasol palettes were going to be marked down 50%.

We actually arrived just before the lunch crowd but it was already packed till the brim.

We were next in line to head in and the wait was less than 10 minutes.

Here's what I bought from left to right:

Coffret D'or beauty lasting liquid UV in D (darkest shade but blends out nicely) x 2 (S$15), Kanebo Blanchir Superior set (comes with cream cleanser, cream soap, clear conditioner and milky conditioner) $25, Lunasol Control Makeup Base in 02 $25, Coffret D'or curving impact mascara x 2 $12, Blanchir Milky Conditioner (Moisture) $18 and 5 Lunasol Palettes $35 each.

Most of the items were manufactured in 2010 so they'll be good till a good 3-4 years if I don't open them to use.

I think I'll probably finish off a good bulk of it.

I managed to grab 3 aurorise paletes on the top row: 04, 02 and 03.

The bottom 2 were from an earlier collection 05 Nature Colorful on left and 02 Nature Green.

I had to pass on some other palettes as my limit was 5.

There were ladies grabbing 10 or more palettes!

Some of Kanebo's own staff were also there buying items off the shelves armed with lists.

Anyway, I was feeding Kylie the other day and had suddenly thought of my younger sister, Michelle.

I can't help but notice some resemblence of her in Kylie.

I had Kylie sit on my tummy with my thighs supporting her back and I remembered mummy doing the same to Michelle when she was a baby.

Yea, Michelle was that cute when she was younger.

Thanks to Vivian who sent this to me.

She caught Kylie smiling when she visited us on Sunday.

Kylie was taken into her Tiffany bracelet and her Rolex watch.

Hahah.. she will be 'expensive' in future.

Almost every single day I'm snapping up precious moments of her.

Her grip on my finger.

We are trying to wean her off eating her fingers so while the pacifier's in her mouth, I kept her hand busy by offerring my finger for her to grip on.

I was waiting for the Fashion Flower launch since I was in love with the beauty powders that MAC has.

It was delayed the last time I read Haru's blog.

Since I had to head to Isetan to get Kylie's bottles which were on promo, Amy and Mummy went with me.

Knowing that the Precious Metal was launched and I wanted to get the LE 128 brush, I popped by the counter.

It's another year gone past but you are still looking as young as ever (so it's ok =P).

We went out for a quickie lunch and some shopping in town yesterday.

Well, this is part 1 of the celebration.

Paradise Dynasty for lunchie!

Michelle couldn't make it for lunch and I couldn't make it for dinner on the actual day so we are meeting for dim sum on the weekend with Kylie and Mr Look.

Mummy was on leave so she came along.

Oh, this was also the first time in months that I did a full face makeup (with eyeshadow and mascara!).

Finally, I broke into my UD Ammo Eyeshadow box!

I didn't do any FOTD as I was in a rush to head out but it was the basic stuff.

Trying to finish my opened MU especially the foundation and face powder.

Food galore!

Had an extremely full lunch and did a little shopping in Ion and Isetan.

Mummy's Day Off~

Took a 'day off' on Wednesday to go and spend the Tangs Rebate Vouchers that I got from the previous Go Green Programme.

Headed to town and spent a little moolah.

First stop, Tangs of course!

I had 4 S$5 vouchers thus I had to get 4 items (duh).

Got my Shiseido eyelash curler to put at my in-law's house.

Stila glitter liner and 2 palettes.

Spent a total of S$82 after the voucher and the rebate in my card

After that, I headed to Watsons to get some concealers since my staple was taken off the shelves.

Why do they always do that to me?!

Anyway, I had to make use of the 20% Watsons had and this was also the last day.

Wee~ saved some moolah!

Bodyshop time!

Had to help someone in AU get some Satsuma items in exchange for some more Inglot items.

I grabbed a brush and 2 gloves.

They are having a promo of S$20 rebate for every S$80 spent.

The S$20 can only be used for the next purchase and is valid for 7 days.

Read from Sara's blog that Freshlook was having a very good promo so I popped into an optical shop at Ion to grab 4 boxes of the contacts.

4 boxes at S$88.

Got 2 boxes for myself and 2 for Mr Look.

Last stop, Armani Exchange to get a tee for Mr Look.

Club21 was having sales and loads of tees were on sales.

Mr Look surprised me with this Precious Moments figurine a couple weeks back after Kylie turned one month.

Other than always being there for Kylie, he was always there for me whenever I needed him regardless how tired he was.

My powder foundation brush staple - Everyday Mineral Long handled Kabuki brush.

The bristles are so soft and the size of the brush isn't too big.

Totally love it so I bought another 2 more.

This time I also ordered the blusher brush.

It's also the same soft bristles.

Gotta wash them and use them soon!

PS: brushes lasts a long time but I just need to get a backup for my powder brush. =P

As the title suggests, I finally went out to do a little shopping for myself.

Found myself not being able to wear some of my old shorts due to my fat thighs and bigger bum =(

Anyway, I met Henry for some Hi-tea on Monday at Bugis and did some retail therapy since it was the Great Singapore Sales!

Must show my support to Singapore.

Muahahahah...first stop - CottonOn!

Shorts at S$10 each.

I used to be an in-between size for CottonOn pre-pregnancy.

Guess what?

I'm able to wear them now!

Sad thing is, I'm a size 10.

Haiz.

Tops at S$5 each.

Tights/leggings (whichever you call them).

I can't remember the prices but I think it was 2 for S$15 (or S$20).

The funny thing is, I wore this in L and XL during pregnancy and during the last trimester I went in search for these larger sizes which were sold out!

Surprisingly, it was the small sizes that were still in stock.

I got a XS and a S for this.

Next stop to Kino.

They were having a 20% discount for members.

Thanks to Michelle's gift to me 2 years ago, I've made use of the 20% many times.

Got the Nu Ren Wo Zhui Da magazine and Xiao Kai Lao Shi's book on face makeup.

Before discount they were S$12 and S$25.94 respectively.

Thereafter, it was off to Mitju.

I used to love charles and keith but the prices are sky rocketing recently.

Mitju's shoes are pretty, comfy and most importantly cheaper.

With DBS/POSB cards, there's an additional 10% off all shoes too!

I bought a pair of wedge and a pair of flats.

Yeap, they are both grey.

Kinda like the color when I wore them.

I'm still looking for a basic pair of nude heels.

This concludes my shopping on Monday.

Tuesday was the day that Kylie had to get her Ultrasound and jab done.

Mr Look took Childcare Leave for the entire day so after the hospital visit, we headed out to get some Kylie stuff at Marina Square.

Since it was odd hours, Mango was literally empty despite the sales they were having.

I remember I used to get up early and queue to get in to their sales to grab clothes at the Raffles City branch.

I thought of getting some tops but in the end, I got 2 bottoms.

1 denim skirt and 1 pair of jeans.

I remember their sales prices used to be pretty expensive too.

I remember buying a pair of jeans at a previous sale for over S$50.

This time I got both the denim bottoms for S$88.

Best thing?

I'm still a size 8!

Although I've told myself many times, it usually takes multiple reminders from others before I'm able to let go.
I was probably in the doldrums 1/5 of the time since I gave birth to Kylie cause I was too adamant on certain issues such as breastfeeding, spending time with Kylie etc.
It was tough and I wanted to be able to do everthing.

It has dawned on me that I can do everything if I was able to let myself go easy on some others.
It's still doing everything but probably not to 100%.
It may seem weird but I realised sometimes it's also good to not achieve 100% in everything I set myself out to do.
That allows me to relax and enjoy the process.

Glorious Sunday indeed.
A brand new journey for me to embark on and really enjoy it this time round.

Whirlwind Changes~

Haven't been updating my blog as usual as I would have all because of the whirlwind changes in the last few days.
Well, my confinement lady left last Friday, I moved over to my inlaws as a temporary measure to ensure I have rest and food, my dear Kylie was a little unwell with cough and phlegm in the nose/throat region.
All these happening at the same time caused me stress and anxiety which in turn cause a dip in my milk supply for my little darling.
Not to mention a change in diet as well.

Anyway, all's well now and I'm coping well with the support of my husband (as usual) and my in laws.
It's tough but I do want to return home to spend some alone time with Kylie once she settles down.
Hope to get into a routine like coming here in the morning with her and home in the evening after dinner for the rest of my Maternity leave period.
After my leave, it's a whole new ball game and I can only take it as it comes.

Meanwhile, I'll try to start to enjoy the process (which everyone has been telling me to do).

Kylie's full month celebration~

It's a Chinese tradition to hold a full month celebration for the baby to formally introduce the mummy and baby to the relatives. This also signifies the end of confinement for the mum.

Well, we did Kylie's full month a few days earlier since her full month falls on a Thursday.
This was a seriously huge celebration with 2 sessions for our friends and relatives.
Most of my friends and relatives came in the afternoon.

MAC Surf Baby Haul.

Launched on Friday, June 3rd and I 'happen' to be at Raffles City.

This was probably my fastest haul yet.

I went in and came out within 5 minutes.

Walked to the display, picked up the cheek powder, told the SA I wanted a new one and went to check out the Big Bounce Cream Eyeshadows which I was lemming for and headed to pay for the blusher.

Only got 1 item from the entire collection - Cheek Powder.

I missed the summer collection last year so I was bent on getting this one way or another.

I love the peachy color blush and the gold overlay isn't as shimmery as their MSFs (which I've gotten bored of).

I did a quick test of the Big Bounce Shadow despite a not too good review.

Tested on my hand and the wash of color was not as vibrant as I thought.

What it left me was a swatch of shimmer.

The staying power wasn't really there either as they kinda rubbed off after a while.

Despite liking the texture, I might have to think twice about buying it.

Maybe I'll try it at the stores again before considering the purchase, if any.

I was working on a new project after I gave birth to Kylie since I was on confinement.
For those who might not know what confinement is, it's essentially the Chinese belief that after giving birth the women's body is very weak and cold.
And, the month after giving birth is the best month to nourish and build up the body.
Also, there are many 'rules' to the confinement month.
For instance, no showering or touching cold water, this will lead to body aches, pains and rheumatism in old age.
This amongst other beliefs.

Project Overhaul Part 1.

Not a very innovative name I know...

Overhaul-ing my clothes for part 1 cause

1. my room is super messy

2. the need to take stock of what I have and clothes (yes, this includes intimates) I need to throw/donate

3. pack some to move to my MIL's house

4. clean up my wardrobe

I did not take any before photos but do note that it took me close to 4 hours to get it all done~

This includes folding Mr Look's tees too~

1 big bag to bring to MIL house.

This doesn't include all I want to bring over though~

2 bags to zip and keep.

The other huge bag is for donating/throwing. =)

Taking the chance to reduce the bulk of clothings I have.

I went to do a quick yahoo search and found this blog post.
Inglot will be opened in Sunway Pyramid.
Hopefully, they will stay open for a long time~
Looking at the prices on the blog, it looks like it's so much cheaper than in Australia and USA.

We are doing well.

Time to 'engage' each other more before the confinement lady leaves in less than 20 days.

Yes, after my first Inglot Palette from Poland in March, I managed to do another custom purchase with a lady in Australia for my second palette.
This palette combination was supposed to be my first palette but due to some mix up, I didn't get it as my first.

Emotional Overdrive.

The past 2 weeks have been tough on me but I believe it was tougher on Mr Look.
I've experienced 2 emotional breakdowns within a span of 4 days after coming home.
However, other than Mr Look standing by me all the time and looking out for post natal blues, I had a very supportive group of mummies from my office giving me their full support! *Not to mention other friends*.
Emails, FB messages, calls, SMSes came pouring in once the above 'Emotional Overdrive' status went out.
I'm really and truly grateful for all the care and concern.
I'm truly blessed.

My first breakdown was due to not being able to latch Kylie on without having her wail for 45 minutes.
There were successful latches with the help of a nipple shield to elongate my flat/short nipple.
However, most of the time, she was too eager or unable to get the flow which resulted in more crying.
To add to this, my over-zealous ambitious plan to build up my moo-moo supply also took it's toll on me.
Seeing that I pumped 1 bottle and the confinement lady (CL) take out 1 bottle was devastating.
Yes, I did hope that I had enough milk for Kylie.

Second breakdown was due to the CL.
Well, let's just say we were getting to know each other.
She teaches me some stuff and I teach her some stuff.
2-way learning process.

Now I know the hormonal changes are horrible!!
Tough to manage and you won't know when it will hit you.
Husband's support is paramount as well.
Regardless, if it's running around, emotionally/physically being there or helping out.
Every little bit counts!!

Once again, I want to thank everyone who has reached out to me the past 2 weeks to help me get back on track on feeding Kylie breastmilk.
Although I'm not latching but pumping still enables her to get the goodness from me.
That's probably what matters most now~

Not about Kylie this time round. She's doing well and drinking lots of milk from mummy.
This time, I say goodbye to some colleagues that I deem as family which made life at work so much easier and bearable for me for the past years.
It's gone a full circle and we are back at where we started.
The only difference, it's time now to trim the 'fats'.
It's inevitable in the competitive corporate world but it still saddens me.

Nonetheless, I do hope that social media will allow for connectivity with these friends of mine.

Just before my final gynae checkup, Mr Look and I headed to City Hall to grab a quick bite and get some other stuff done.

Headed to Skinny Pizza for what was to be my final outing before confinement starts.

I would say that the pizzas are pretty good.

There's a tea special which consists of 1 drink and 1 dessert at S$9.50++.

Posting this super short post at 4am in the morning.
Reason?
I'm up pumping my milk to regulate and increase the flow.
These days, I usually sleep ard 11pm and wake up another 2-3 times in the night for a duration of 50-80 minutes to either latch on Kylie or pump.
Sleep deprived?
Definitely!
But this is for the better of Kylie's health and I shall persevere and press on.
I always thought it can't be that tough to let a child go on full Breastmilk but I now know how wrong that was.

I had an emotional breakdown just 2 days ago.
It was frustrating to build the supply, deal with the lack of sleep and with a crying child.
However, I had lots of mummies in office who sent me smses asking after my wellbeing and to tell me to hang in there and not stress myself out.
I'm really thankful for these bunch of mummies and the support they gave me.
Of course there's also the unwavering support of mr look!
He has been by my side sInce the birth of Kylie.
Took leave to be by my side supporting me through the moo moo career as well my confinement.
It's really not as easy as it seems and strongental determination is required.

Kylie on the other hand is already a blessing.
Her character is a little like me and mr look mixed together.
Loves to sleep quite a bit and feedings can be missed but not sleeping - that's pretty me.
I feel that she kinda follows a time-table and her actions can be guaged sometimes - that's like mr look.

Kylie turns one week today.
Mr look told me the next thing I know she will be telling us she's getting married soon~ hehe.

OSIA ~ Mothers' Day Lunch at RWS.

Before I went to deliver Kylie, we arranged for a family lunch at RWS to celebrate Mothers' Day.

Headed down the week before Mothers' Day and we chose OSIA for lunch.

Had a fruitful gathering before Kylie came.

Arrival of Kylie Look~

The date was set - 10 May 2011.

Headed into the hospital during the wee hours of the morning.

Kylie was 38 weeks + 5 days old.

It was time to come out.

Took close to 2 hours to complete all the paperwork and briefing.

I was rolled into the theatre at around 9am.

Kylie was in breech position so an elective C-section was chosen.

We chose to go under epidural instead of GA so that I can see Kylie once she's taken out.

Kylie was born 0920am on 10 May 2011.

She weighed 3.07kg and was 50cm in length.

Back at the room with Kylie after she was cleaned.

She was crying in the nursery so the nurse brought her in to see me.

Daddy went home to 'rest'.

Eyes wide open for a while than she went back to sleep.

Yes, I kinda miss her and I still talk to myself as though she was in my tummy still.

Now, I understand why mummies miss being pregnant.

Probably my final shopping trip/outing before I go into confinement.

Headed to Vivo on Sunday to get out of the heat at home and to grab some lunch.

Shopped around a little and realised that Uniqlo replaced River Island in Vivo.

It was so bright and the shop front was filled with promo items.

I love floral prints and the tees are of pretty good quality.

As a special, they were going at S$19.90 each.

I had to grab a couple of tops.

Mr Look did too as most of the tees were all S$19.90.

We basically bought one top for each of Mr Look's family member.

1 in round/boat neck and the other was V-neck.

Some of the popular designs have already sold out in S sizes.

At the payment counter, I picked up the 2011 brochure.

Outcome of 2011 General Elections~

It's over.

The election that happens once every 5 years is over.

People's Action Party (PAP) lost 1 Group Representative Constituency and some really good Ministers.

Kudos to Mr George Yeo and his team.

I also thank Mr/Mrs Chiam for their contribution to Singapore.

I won't say that I'm not upset by the loss of a good team.

However, since Singaporeans ask for more voices in the Parliament and Workers' Party (WP) offered to do that and thus won more seats.

I hope they make good their word.

Singaporeans, please DO NOT discount the WP team of 6 in the parliament because they are the minority.

They asked for the chance and they are given the chance to speak and represent us.

Regardless, 6 representative is MORE THAN the previous 2.

DO NOT DISCOUNT THEIR PROMISES OR THEIR ABILITY TO DO ANYTHING!!!

THEY WON THE VOTES AND THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO SOMETHING!

With regards to the remaining PAP team, I hope with the outcome of this election has brought them back to Earth that changes need to be made.

Transformational changes may not be necessary but changes are still required.

To the youths of Singapore.

Do think carefully if the issues raised are a global issue or something that only Singapore is affected due to the existing government?

HDB, rising costs of living, income gap, foreign labour etc - think the bigger picture.

Singapore needs to be an open market (agreed by most) but people are complaining of rising costs - please balance that for me.

Please remember that Singapore has NO natural resources.

I will monitor the opposition for the next 5 years.

Regardless what it can do for Aljunied or what it raises in the Parliament.

*I do have my fair share of dislikes of certain representatives from both the PAP and WP parties like everyone else. But I'll give them the chance to prove themselves in Parliament. Especially those who have not lived in Singapore the past 30 years.

Early Fathers' Day Pressie~

Met Jenn for lunch and catchup yesterday.

She had to rush off for tea after lunch and I had time to walk around Bugis before getting my dinner.

Headed to BHG to grab some stuff for myself and the house.

After that, I went down to get Mr Look a 'Thank You' and early Fathers' Day gift!

He's been wanting to go clothes shopping but because of my mid-heavy condition I wasn't able to shop/walk around much.

My feet will swell and my back will hurt.

So, it was out to get what was needed and time to head home.

Nothing much else to buy for men but these are relatively new colors in his black dominated wardrobe.

Being picky, he has been looking for tailored shorts instead of the usual cargo shorts.

I was just visited (once again) this morning by my GRC's new PAP candidate.

I have to say he's a sincere fella although he knew little about the upgrading plans for our area.

I posted him a question on the upgrading for the carpark here.

Well, I can't really blame him since it's his first time contesting here and he's not served in this GRC before.

However, I must say that he came across as sincere, humble and friendly.

He did try to get an answer immediately for me~

I'm not really a pro or anti PAP voter (shh...voting is secret my hubby keeps reminding me).

But, there are times that I feel that some of the GE debates are of some wacky issues.

I do agree that the reports in the papers/news are skewed towards PAP covering in more detail about what PAP candidates did or said.

But, I did hear some rally speeches and did also have the ??? come into my head on BOTH sides!

I shall voice some of my thoughts in this post.

On one hand, one opposition team encourages extended family to live within the same estate to encourage family bonding and creation (totally agree!).

Another opposition is saying that HDB resale is mainly for upgraders and PRs.

So, if my extended family stays in a mature estate - than how?

There's no new affordable flats here for first timers like us lei~

Than how about my bonding time with them??

And, best of all, the opposition are sharing candidates.

Boy, if you realise, we are surrounded by some really big countries.

I'm staying in MY house so shouldn't I be using MY money to pay for it?

And tell me which government gives money back to it's citizens?

I'm not complaining.

The money might seem little to some but to others it's really a lot.

This is not a 'dangling carrot' as it was not given out only this year because of the GE.

We are a workfare state and that's something that cannot be denied.

If we were to be a welfare state, I don't think Singapore will be where it is today.

Look at some of the social issues that a welfare state has - regular young people opting not to work because they can get welfare benefits.

I do believe there are assistance out there for the needy.

And regardless which political group you belong to, if there's a needy person that you know of you should help.

If you help and you voice it out, is that being humble or trying to claim rewards for what you did *irony*?

Many of the politicians (yes I call them that already) contesting have voiced out of so-so aunty or uncle they've met which are in this or that situation.

My question to them: did you find out the reason why they are in that situation or did you do anything to help them directly as a normal human being to another human being out of real compassion?

I do complain about the maternity package not being enough but it's my choice to get a 2 bedded room and deliver at a private hospital.

Can I blame the government for not giving me enough 'incentive' to give birth?

In the first place, is there a real need for incentive to give birth?

I'm not saying it's not good.

Of course the additional moolah will offset my bills and I'm grateful for it.

If you want to have kids, you will have kids - that's the bottomline.

My mum's generation had nothing - no maternity, no childcare, no baby bonus.

Oh, FYI, she was a full time working mum too~

If the government gave S$10k per baby can you imagine the social issues that it will create?

I do agree that its good to have checks and balances within the parliament.

Impromtu Meetup with the Gang~

It all started with an innocent FB message from Mr Look asking what to do on a Sunday.

This message became a impromptu meetup with the entire gang (more or less entire).

The last time some of us met was for Laksa steamboat during CNY and I'm still missing the steamboat session!

Anyway, after the message went out, we met 2 hours later at Paulaner!

After 2 rounds of beer and some light snacks, it was time for Kel to go home.

The rest of us, went for dinner!

The last time we went Red Star for dim sum breakfast, the gang was telling me about this place near Little India that serves pretty good dim sum too~

However, the place serves the night-morning crowd and by morning the dim sum were mostly gone!

How could I forgo the chance to eat some dim sum?!!

We arrived around 6 and there was a waiting queue outside~

Go try if you are in the vicinity but trust me on the queue portion.

Yes, it's been like yesterday that I was struggling with morning sickness issues in the evening.

We are officially counting down now - single digit days!!

These days, the swelling feet is doubling, running to toilets doubling, backaches doubling *hehe* and everything else.

Good thing is I'm officially staying at home to work till Kylie comes along~

My final checkup will be next week and most likely I'll see Kylie next week too.

Hopefully, I get to vote and everything goes smoothly until the decided date.

After that, I'll be starting my moo-moo career~

I totally agree with her.
Mentality and mindset can shape how and what you feel.
If you only see adversity then there will probably be no thoughts about opportunities.
Vice versa, with a positive outlook you will see opportunities in adversity.

I always tell myself that in life when I'm in the lowest of low, there's no where to go but up.
Especially when it's things that we have no control over - why waste the effort and time to broad over it?
If it's due to my actions that I'm in the lowest of low, what's left for me to do is face it and get on with my life.
What else can I do?

Updates on Kylie~

She turned 36 weeks last Thursday and is weighing an estimate of 2.25kg.

That means, hopefully, by the time she's out, she'll be 2.5-2.7kg.

Still in breech position, Mr Look and I decided to finalise a date for her c-section by next week.

That will most probably be on the 2nd week of May after polling day in Singapore.

She will be on her 38th going onto her 39th week.

Looking forward to meeting my lil look.

She gave me a really bad night on Sunday and I only managed to fall asleep at 1am!
Even after that, I woke up almost every hour.
That woke Mr Look too.

Organised a final major US spree with my colleagues in office from some US websites.

Bought some stuff in preparation for my lil girl's arrival.

There are some other stuff that I can't post as they are gifts.

So, here's what I bought.

From drugstore.com, Traditional Medicinals Organic Mother's milk teabags.

This promotes lactation and reduces colic in the baby from drinking mummy's milk.

So, I bought 8 boxes of these since they were on promotion.

Will probably last me through my moo-moo career.

From Target.com, I got a Braun thermometer and a Sonia Kashuk Kabuki Roped Brush.

I went to Mothercare to check out the prices and trust me it's cheaper to get on Target and adding on shipping than getting it here.

I also got the sonia kashuk roped kabuki brush.

Will only get to try it after my confinement I guess.

From Carters.com, I got another romper (I should stop) for my lil girl.

And, lastly, from Forever21.com, I got some cotton shorts.

Cheap shorts sized S-M for after giving birth.

Believe it or not, I'm wearing XXL FBT shorts now and they are getting tight.

It's the largest size I can find on the racks.

Mr Look had to find super huge tee (from army) in XL for me to wear at home.

Saw on Haru's blog earlier this week that there will be a Tangs Be Green Programme over this weekend.

This started on Thursday at both Tangs Outlets.

Basically, you bring any empty cosmetic containers to the customer service counter in exchange for a S$5 voucher.

This voucher can be used to offset a single regular priced item.

Vouchers cannot be combined for a single purchase.

Each person is allowed maximum 3 exchanges.

You can't use the voucher on some brands - Clinique, MAC, Estee Lauder, La Mer, DKNY, Lab Series, Aramis and Chanel.

Went down to exchange for my vouchers with 4 MAC empties that I've been keeping for a couple of years.

Decided to give up keeping 6 empties for a lippie.

Got this in the silver/champange color and haven't really seen this hitting our shores yet.

I'm really excited as I type up this post because through FB I was able to connect with some long lost friends.

Hanni's one of them!

She was my primary school classmate and she has shifted out of Singapore to be with her loving husband.

She has got 2 great kids as well (and she's looking at adding 2 more)!!

Anyway, she recently came back to Singapore for a 2 month holiday with both her kids.

Debbie and I met up with the gang for a weekday lunch.

She's really an amazing mum and her 2 kids were beautiful and wonderful!

It's really a bad time to fall sick.

However, the weather in Singapore is a little crazy with sudden heavy downpours and extremely hot afternoons.

Apparently, this will continue till June!!

I've stayed couped up at home since Thursday and my poor hubby accompanied me during the weekends at home.

He's not the sort that's able to stay home the whole day without fidgeting.

So, he did intensive cleaning of the house, cleared the microwave oven (to make way for baby's stuff), did laundry and went out to get my meals.

Yeap, that's my man!

I'm feeling much better as the meds given by my doctor works a little slower due to my pregnancy.

Looking forward to meeting my primary school friend today and my 36th week checkup this Thursday!

After a heavy and late breakfast on Sunday, Mr Look and I headed to Suntec City planning to do some grocery shopping in the afternoon.

We dropped by Harry's to have a light lunch and also to celebrate his great results achieved during his recent IPPT.

Mr Look was always drinking Guinness Draught recently and I took a sip (or rather 2) to see how it was.

It's not bitter and sour like Guinness Stout but it had a light foamy texture.

Comparable to Kilkenny.

Nice~

He's acting it by drinking my grapefruit juice.

I'll stick with Orange juice next time~ bleh!

The Bourgeoisie of the pregnancy world~

Quick update, the lil one is 34 weeks + 5 days.

She was close to 2kg at 34weeks (1989 grams) which the doctor mentioned was alright for her (and me).

She's still in the breech position which means she has yet to turn head down.

We'll have to wait for the 36th week review to see how that goes with the delivery.

Full steam ahead in the preparation of the arrival of this lil one.

Being my first pregnancy, there are stuff that both Mr Look and I are 'lost' on.

A very good example - what things to buy?

This is something ALL first time parents will be thinking (trust me!).

Not only for the newborn but also for the pregnant mother.

I think I did mention before the stuff a pregnant mother requires - clothes, maternity bras, more clothes.

Do believe me when I say that these don't come cheaply.

1 thing for sure is that you won't know how big your tummy may get and when.

Mine started to grow tremendously only after I hit my 7-8th month mark.

So, sometimes, buying maternity clothes doesn't really justify the need for it.

I did get some nonetheless, eg: maternity leggings/jeans.

I met a lady who was in the same frame as me and in the same period of pregnancy, her tummy was smaller than mine and she was wearing her normal jeans~

So, my advice is to go through your wardrobe to see if there's anything loose (I am still able to wear some of my pre-pregnancy tops), followed by shopping for normal loose fit clothings in larger sizes and the extreme case will be to get maternity wear.

Oh, I wore some of Mr Look's tee to sleep too and got XXL for FBT shorts~

As for maternity bras, previously, I mentioned buying normal bras in bigger sizes and using extension hooks.

As you near the last 2-3 months of your term, it's not advisable to wear under-wired bras.

I realised that my veins were getting really obvious and decided to switch to my nursing bras.

Getting these bras too early doesn't make sense as the boobs really do get bigger.

When it doesn't fit, it's a waste of $$$.

So buy them when you are hitting the 7-8th month mark.

There are cheap ones out there too.

Some were retailing at the S$60-80 range in some shops.

I got mine from BHG at S$9.90 each and when OG had sales there was an additional 10% off!

Or, try to find them online on forums/businesses - some good ones can be around S$20.

Well, things for mummy - we can save a little money here and there but what about baby?

I almost fainted when I first walked into a baby store.

Mr Look and I were totally lost.

For instance, there are like 5634526 strollers and 8533241 teats!

I haven't even mentioned the 'innovative' inventions!

Bumbo chairs, dining chair, booster seat - they are actually of about the same function!

They even invented the 'breast friend pillow' meant for breastfeeding mums~
Supposed to have some ergonomic support behind the design but when I asked my colleague she told me it's really not that worthed getting and a little troublesome to use.

It may help some but I think I'll just go back to the usual stacking of pillows around me to support my girl and my back.

I do believe that's still cheaper~

For us, we're pretty lucky.

Friends and family members passed many stuff to us.

Well, we are not that picky that she has to use brand new stuff all the way.

Eg: baby cot, baby swing, play pen, breast pads, glass bottles, clothes (lotsa 'em), shoes, hats, car seat etc.

We did save quite a bit there.

Bath tub's new though~

It may seems like it's all hand me downs but they outgrow some stuff really fast so I'm really grateful for the Karang Guni (old item collector) in me.

Cot's not new but the mattress is - just clean the frame a little and it's good as new!

It's true when my colleagues told me to be thick skinned and ask for stuff or just accept when people offer.

I've even asked my colleagues to hold on to certain items and pass them to me when their kids outgrow the item =P

There really are some gems in these hand me downs and I'm grateful for them as always.

I'll save the money for now and contribute it to the capitalist baby society next time~

I was reading Haru's blog and thought to myself - since I'm so forgetful, I can take photos of my products!

Hahaha~ yea, and so I did.

These were used for work on Tuesday.

Some new items here since I finished some of my old items.

Esprique Dramatical Stay Base Ex as my makeup base since I finished my Jill Stuart base.

Personally, I still prefer the JS base as it's more liquid and glides on easier.

Lunasol liquid base foundation, I think this was a lil too dark for my skin but after spreading it out, it looks alright.

P&J Sahara loose powder, I am beginning to like the flawless finish it gives my skin.

Lunasol eye palette with TooFaced Shadow Insurance and MM mascara, Ami said that the shadow primer is not working for her so she passed it to me. It works alright for me but I think I still prefer UD primer.

Oh, I forgot my concealer but it's the same old Maybelline one which is no longer on the shelves =(

I used the peach MM blusher - yes, I'm loving the color!

On my lips were the Clinique Chubby Stick in Whoppin Watermelon.

The chubby sticks has become my staple.

Mummy and Ami recently returned from a holiday to Taiwan/HK.

They got me some goodies~

Food stuff including my favorite Tai Yang Bing which I already started eating.

One a day - haha, like addiction~

The sexylook masks were really great!

I tried one last night and the mask material was better than MyBeautyDiary, there were more essence in the masks and you can feel the lifting effect almost immediately after removing the mask.

Yes, I was very disappointed in someone some days back.

Felt totally taken for granted and worse still she had an attitude as though she did nothing wrong.

Like someone older, she was totally un-apologetic for her actions and even talked back.

It probably just shows how her personality has changed together with age and the friends she have around her.

Cath Kidston London recently had a massive sales online and I joined a spree to get a couple of items.

I had wanted another sling but it was out-of-stock.

So, in the end, I only managed to get the 2 below.

The other is a gift so I didn't take a photo of it.

The big day bag retails at 45 pounds but I got it at 30 pounds~

Now, I need to get a diaper changing mat.

Yes, I'm officially counting down.

Over the weekend, I'd packed my delivery bag, clear the space at home, bought the foldable bed from Ikea and got some baby stuff (wet wipes, detergent, baby wash) etc in preparation for the arrival.

Mr Look and I also went for the 32nd week checkup last Friday.

She's weighing in at 1.7kg (compared to 1.072kg 4 weeks ago) and mummy's at 58.6kg (about 11kg gain).

She's doing good except for the fact that she has yet to turn head down and is still in the bridge position.

We'll see how it goes in the 34th week checkup.

Dr Tan is actually targeting the 38th week for her to come out.

That will be early May instead of the actual EDD of 19 May.

I guess I'm all set and we'll just get the stuff we need when she comes along.

Saturday Breakfast~Roti Prata!

Ate this last Saturday.

Roti Prata made by a Chinese man.

Maybe it was due to the queue, I find the prata not really cooked as I could still taste the flour.

However, I do believe this is made with butter and not the traditional ghee.

The curry was nice too.

Chinese made curry tastes different from Indian made.

Ice Horlick for my drink.

Haul~Clinique Chubby Stick.

After getting the Whoppin Watermelon Chubby Stick (and loving it), I asked Jenn to get me another 2 more.

This is real moisturising and I need it as I get chapped lips easily these few weeks.

I think it's due to my pregnancy as I read that some ladies having the same symptoms.

I'm putting on lip balm every night before I sleep.

If I forget (or get lazy) for 2 nights, my lips will be chapped the following day *horrible*.

Yeap, it's that bad despite me drinking more than 2 litres of water daily.

Oh well, the changes to the body during pregnancy is something I can't control.

This time I got mega melon (04) and super strawberry (07).

I realise that the colors are a little off what was given on the Sephora website.

Below are the swatch from my sticks.

Whoppin Watermelon is a barbie pink shade - not really what I thought when I got it.

L to R: 07 and 04.

T to B: 07 and 04.

07 - its more of a darker pinkish shade and 04 is more of a coral shade.

*pardon my descriptions*

Will definitely be using these soon.

All the stuff that my US lover bought for me from Sephora, US.

1st up, Benefit's bella bamba.

Lotsa swatches online, so I shan't do it.

I love Benefit's box blushers for the pigmentation and I've been lemming for this since it's launch.

Watermelon pink~

This box is a little different as there's a mirror inside and also its a flip open box.

One more thing, the blusher smells really good too unlike the other blushers.

Love this max!

Next, Philosophy's purity and hope in a jar.

Well, I've always wanted to try Philosophy products so I'm going to start with the most basic cleanser and moisturiser.

FYI, these are small versions 60ml and 90ml only.

Meant to be used when I travel *hopefully*.

My first Sephora brush.

Professionnel Platinum Natural All Over Shadow Brush #12.

I wanted a big fluffy brush for my eyelids.

I think this will do the trick =)

My 3rd Nars blusher in Madly.

I love the color and I have no dupe for this.

Shimmery salmon is probably what I'll describe this as.

I realise that Nars blusher tends to look darker in the pan than on the face.

UD Ammo palette and UD Eden primer.

This is a set on Sephora.com but at the stores they were sold seperately.

I've bought the Sin primer potion sometime back and it's working great for me.

Only problem is that it was shimmery and brown so kind of tough for me to use colors on top of it.

The one that dries clear is a tad drying on my lids so I bought Eden.

Matt light brown on drying.

Not sure if it'll make my shadows 'pop' but let's see how it goes.

Ammo palette.

I like the packaging, some parts are velvet and some are printed shiny purple.

I was a little wow-ed away with the Naked palette.

Been reaching out to it 2-3 times a week for various colors.

After looking at some of the shades in this Ammo palette, I was pretty happy with it too =)

These are gift/free~

The Bliss soapy suds were free from Sephora and the BM face fashion was a gift from my lover.

Blusher.

2 shadows - 1 in purple and the other one is ashy green.

Lippie - love the color~

And a pencil liner.

Yes! Another planned haul~

This is probably the last one for makeup.

Thanks to a very nice friend from the states, I managed to pick some stuff up from Sephora.

I ordered makeup only so you could guess I was really surprised to see baby clothes in the list.
