Shopping on Fathers' Day.

Probably my dad would have hated it but a family that shops together, stays together! haha..
Went out to do some shopping on Sunday with Ma and Ami.

Cam whore a bit before heading out to meet Ma and Ami.
At Centerpoint Mac after shopping at OG.
Dinner at CQ's Brewerks.
Ma's reaction is so cute!
After that Ma and Ami left.
Yong and I watched the 1st half of Slovakia V Paraguay match.
Headed home after that.

Some stuff 'I' bought...
Tidbits from OG and M&S.
I love the cereal that Senior recommended back during MC days and I am still eating it!
On sale now!
Ami, I realised I forgot my M&S socks that I left at the fitting room entrance =X

Tweezer (Yong's), Bourjois healthy mix foundation and Kate Diamond Cut eyes LE palette.
The Bourjois foundation smells like fruits!
I got the Kate palette in Gold instead of silver (S$27)
Can't wait to try them out soon.
Watsons haul.
Ginvera green tea marvel gel was going at 2 for S$21.60 which is a good 34% off.
Since I had the Everyday card, rebate was 6% over the weekends so it was an even better deal.
Happened to pass by a Mango that the whole store was virtually on sale.
Got the cropped cardi at S$19.
My previous black one was S$35 I think.
It's really easy to match and comfy.
This is in purple - looks a little off here.
What I was wearing - Mickey tee!

Family time.

Had steamboat with some of my closest cousins and family.
I'll let the photos do the talking.

This reminded me when I was little.
My cousins would gather in the room and I was left outside.
Waiting for them to let me in.
Poor Prada!
Poor Ivy!

PS: Davine, I'll arrange some time in July for your family and mine to come over to my house ok?
If not in July then maybe in September to celebrate our mums biryhdays?

A Tribute to my Dad.

My dad may not have been the perfect dad but I know he has always tried to be one. During the final stretch of his life, I see his strong straits in fighting for his life despite all the pain he has been suffering.
Like I always told my sister, I did not know how to face him as it pained me everytime I saw him.
It was a real tough fight.

There are also many, many good memories..
Waking up in my parent's room on weekdays to the sound of his hairdryer blowing his currypok hair.
Choosing his shirt for him when he was getting ready to head out (yea, I had that flare since I was a little girl.)
Hearing him sing 'Let's go baby let's go baby come on!' (it was one of the Ms Universe song and he used it to urge us to get out of the house)
Having the same dishes in my Cai Fan when he tabao-ed home dinner (steam egg, Gu Lou Rou and Cabbage)
Walking with him to AMK enroute to school during wee hours of the morning.
Hanging out with him at fish and bird shops.
Going to morning bird 'shows' with him.
His Kangaroo brand shorts.
Going to play badminton with him and 2 uncles on weekends at TPY badminton complex.
Him buying roasted chicken leg rice for me.
His routine with the bird, fish and dog feeding, bathing etc.
Sitting with him in the kitchen and just looking at him make/repair bird cages.
Us cleaning the house and after that having our 'DISCO' night.
Waking me up to go for my dragonboat training by banging on my door.
Him making Dong Gua Tong Shui, Bird's nest, sea coconut etc (my dad was a fantastic cook!)
Going to AMK bowl with him after work to play bowling with his friends.
Him trying to upgrade himself and asking for a dictionary and how to spell certain words.
My dad losing his temper at Ami and slamming the dining chair in anger.

I'm always in awe of my dad and the things he can do (breed fishes, bowl a curve/spin ball, repair a bird cage, cook a great dish amongst many other things).
My dad always tries to fulfill our wishes - having our own room, giving us a hi-fi set, buying me my MD player etc etc etc.
He has also taught me to be the person I am today.
Being a strong person and always trying my best in things I do.
Being a friend to even my foes (I'm still trying to achieve that).
No one can tell me that my dad wasn't the greatest dad there is cause to me he will always be.
I will always remember him and the teachings/lessons he has taught me.

Taken at TPY park in the blue polo that I'll always remember.

DADDY, I LOVE YOU LOADZ!!

Rojak!

I am a sucker for 'peanuts'.
Rojak, satay, satay bee hoon, peanut butter are a few of my favorite food.
Sometimes, we head to TPY for lunch and I realised that the infamous rojak re-opened.
I've tried in vain for close to 1 week in tabao-ing the rojak home for dinner.
Finally, I managed to do so for lunch on Thursday.
There was still a queue but it wasn't as long as the dinner crowds.
Queueing up and looking at the uncle make the rojak, I was wondering how nice it could be.
Reason was that he's dishing out 1 plate after another in less than 5 minutes.
All the ingredients were already cut and sitting in tubs.
Also, I felt that it wasn't really mixed properly before he dished them out.
Maybe due to the fact that I tabao-ed it home, everything had a change to settle and there were slightly more liquid.

I underestimated this box of $3 rojak.
There's a 10% going on till mid July (I think).

There were the usual ingredients - pineapple, mang guang, cucumber, dou gey.
The you tiao and dou pok was crispy!!
Despite the fact I tabao-ed ok?
Also, there was the old traditional ingredient of cuttlefish!
How often do you see that in rojak nowadays?
Last but not least, uncle was not a tad bit conscious about the HUGE amount of peanut doused on top of the rojak.
Every morsel of food picked out from the mixture is covered in it!
SOLD!

Look at the amount of peanuts left in the bottom of my box!
Yums!!

Looking forward.

Yes, I'm looking forward to the weekends.
Reason?

1. Yong's on course and I barely spend time with him during the weekdays.
2. We are having a great gathering this weekend with my family and cousins! Can't wait for that to happen!
3. I really need to rest and get out of my air-con office.

Top 3 reasons amongst many others.

Reminiscing..

I've got a colleague who is a vegetarian.
The vegetarian food stalls around our office have closed down one after another.
I got a message asking if I wanted to head to Guang Ming Shan.
Sometime back, we were saying that they provide free food on the 27th of every lunar month.

Thing was although the temple has changed - moved the dining area, built a new building (which blocks me old room's fireworks view @!$!#@!!), upgrading etc.
I can't help but remember the good old days where Po Po (my grandma) would drag me to the temple for these free lunches.
In those good old days, the dining hall wasn't air-conditioned, it wasn't as bright, there wasn't as much drinks or food selection and there were loads of people (there still is).
My grandma was a devout buddhist and she'll head to the temples that's next to my old house 3-4 times a month.
On my school holidays, I'm usually stuck in her house since mum and dad went to work.
She'll say to me, 'zeng zeng (my pet name in cantonese) let's go' (of course not in English but Cantonese).
And than we will walk to the temple, do our prayers and than head to makan.
There, she will ask me to walk faster to find seats and once we are seated, food will be served.
She'll pile the food on my plate which I can never finish.
But I did learn that vegetarian food (especially spring rolls) can be pretty yummy!
Since I was an ultra slow eater and I had to finish everything that was on my plate, we were always last to leave the table.
Those were the days.

My regret was that I never made it to the last extended family photo during my grandma's last birthday as I was throwing a tantrum about going downstairs (my grandma's family used to live one floor down).

Yeap, this is me with my granny.
I had thought that it was Ami due to the 'oldness' of the photo =X
But she reminded me of 1 startling fact, which I shan't share here, that differentiates us when we were babies.

That's my granny behind and I think I was maybe 5 years old?
It says 'A' on the cake as this was Ami's cake, not mine.
Ya, I had to take a photo with it coz it was huge!
I was always jealous of this cake!!

But I've got such a great sister that once she was given a Forever Friends teddy with the alphabet 'A' on it.
We were still pretty young and that kind teddy costed a bomb back then.
She knew that I loved Forever Friends.
She gave it to me saying that she hoped that I can score 'A's in my exams
Thus the 'A' on the bear.
See what A great sister I have?!

Also big thanks to my younger sis who, although took close to 1 week, scanned the above photos for me.
Leaving out 1 photo which could potentially make my younger sister 'dead' and maybe me paralyzed if I posted it here.
