Reunion Dinner Part 1.

As with Lunar New Year Tradition, reunion dinners are eaten on the eve.
However, this year we will be in Japan so we had an early reunion dinner with my uncle over the weekend.
Ami made a reservation at Peach Garden for their set meal.

We had our specialised menu as I opt not to eat Shark's fins when I have the choice.
Thus the menu was different.

Started taking photos before the start of the meal - purple haired Mic and Ami..

Yong and me..

Me and Ma..

3 sisters..

Family with Uncle..

First up, Salmon Yu Sheng..

When everything is added in.
We ordered more of the Pok Cheoi - always a crowd pleaser when there's small kids.

Photo of after it's being tossed.
As we toss, we are to say auspicious words and toss it high.
This is to signify what we wish for the new year and the higher we toss the better it should be.

Ami, Michelle and I chose to have the double-boiled chicken soup...

The rest chose to have the braised shark's fin.

Yong with his Shark's Fin..

Deep-fried Fillet with Chef's special sauce.
The sauce was spicy and sourish.
Yong liked it as it was spicy - belachan.
I would prefer it less spicy..haha..

Braised Baby Abalone with Fa Cai and Dried Oyster in Beancurd pouch.
Yummy!
With this dish, I realised that Ami, Mic, Uncle and I left the abalone for last..haha..talk about family resemblence!
I forgot to take the noodle dish!!!
It was too nice!!

And for dessert - Nian Gao and Tang Yuan.
Both very meaningful to end of the dinner.

We went to shop around as we were pretty full.
Ma bought me oranges..

8 Yong Chun Lukan oranges for S$10.88!!
Thanks Ma!

Next up, reunion dinner part 2 - at Yong's house.

林宥嘉 - 感官/世界拉闊音樂會(Report)

IT WAS THE DAY!
After over 1 month of waiting!
The tickets say that the doors open at 7:30 pm and the showcase starts at 9:30 pm.
So, after meeting Michelle for dinner at 6 pm and some walking around, Ami and I headed to Vivocity.
We reached there around 8 pm and the queue was even longer than the St. James Anniversary (and there was free flow that time!!)

I can't even see the entrance from where we were queuing!
This was taken after 20 minutes of queuing..
The queue behind us...

Already 8:30 pm..

Thanks to Ami for accompanying me for this showcase!
Michelle, next time ok?

Finally! Some hope!

The crowd in front of us..scary!

The crowd behind us...

There were 4-5 cameras behind us..

Cam whore...

Ok, there were 2 free drinks with the tickets.
The sponsor was Hennessy and guess what we are drinking?
It was coke..hahaha...

Band coming!

Yoga!!
Too far away so the photos are all blurred!!
Aaarrggghhh...

Ok, shall leave everyone with some live performances that I recorded.
These are some songs on the album (感官/世界) that I personally found nice...

<<歇斯底里>>

<<解High人>>

<<說謊>>

<<唐人街>>

That ends the showcase.
It was really enjoyable although it was only about 1 hour.
He belted out the above songs and also some other songs from his previous album.
He sang the song <请说> from the previous album near the end of the showcase.
I felt that it was a pretty sloppy job done.
Ami felt that maybe he was tired but she did agree that it was a 'get-it-over-and-done-with-performance'.
But he was also really humorous - I guess that's what you need to survive in this industry.

Oh, both Ami and I got our age checked before being granted entrance.
Minimum entry for ladies is 18 - should I take this as a compliment or an insult?
Hahaha..I think I should be glad that at 27 they still want to check my IC..if not it will turn mouldy soon...

Next up, Jam's concert in March!

Chinatown...

My usual ritual every year near Lunar New Year will be to head down to Chinatown to queue for Lim Chee Guan.
However, this year we will be heading to Japan for CNY so I had told both my mums that I will not be buying.
Last weekend, we had to go to CTC to pay the balance tour fare and since we were in the vicinity, we decided to go Chinatown to get a feel of the market.

Though it was only about 4-5pm, the crowd was already starting to flow in.

There are still a couple of stops I had to make as there are some tidbits only available during this period.
One of them is Gua Zi which I can munch and munch on it non-stop!
After that, we went to Da Zhong Guo to get Nian Gao and also other New Year Goodies such as Honeycomb for Yong and also Ya Gu Chips.

After that, we decided to head to OG to look at winter stuff and also CNY clothes for mummy.
On the overhead bridge crossing to OG.

Our CNY stuff..
Ma and Ami..

I bought a Cheong Sam top!!!
Wasn't supposed to spend money...
Haiz...

Life's little pleasure...

People who know me will know that I hate waking up early in the morning.
My early refers to any hour before 7 am. It's considered ungodly to me.

However, some thing changed me today.
I had a usual 8 am fortnightly call and due to my resolution of not bringing home my laptop for work Mon-Thurs, I had to come in to office to take it.
This means I had to wake up at about 640-645 am.

So, I woke up at 655 am and when I went to close my curtains - I saw the most beautiful horizon of orange, yellow, grey and black admist the blocks in front of me.
What a way to wake up!
I guess some times people just tend to take nature for granted and since the sun rises and sets everyday - we simply ignore it.

This made my day!

It also made me realise the benefits of going to work early.
For instance, the walk to the mrt station is pretty cooling at 730am compared to 830am.
The train's less packed - actually it's not packed at all!
I get to come in and start getting replies from the US immediately (woo-hoo) which usually I had to wait till the next day.
Also, I get the solitude of working almost alone in the office at 8am!

I didn't catch a photo of the horizon I saw this morning but it's ok - I have another 8am call tomorrow!
