天空.

Just some random pictures of the sky that I've taken.
I love to stare at the sky which is one reason why I do not really like to work in Raffles area.
The tall buildings block the sky so much that it's only left with a strip when you look up.
People are always too busy looking in front to look upwards towards the sky.
Sometimes, you'll be amazed with what you see.
But you just need to take the time to slow down and look up. =)
Just like people around you, you just need to slow down and look carefully to know who are your true comrades.

This is still my absolute favorite.
Although its not the clear blue skies that everyone loves but I feel that clouds are part of the sky and when they are there, they make the sky look so much softer.
It might make the photo imperfect but whose life is perfect anyway?
It's all the imperfections that makes people remember.

Jill Stuart Mook.

Finally! I got my hands on the Jill Stuart 5th Anniversary Mook!
Mook - Magazine + Book (Japanese term).
This was released in Japan on August 29th.
Got it from Kino at Bugis today. I kept forgetting to check it out at the stores.
Basically, this book tracks Jill Stuart's history, gives an overview on the products and the looks created etc.
I got this for the free cosmetics pouch that came with it. Really pretty!

I love Jill stuff as the packaging's really pretty, smells really good and it's pink!
Their eye jelly is really amazing to use and I even recommended it to my MUAs for my wedding.
Will really be looking forward to buying more Jill stuff from Japan next year!! Time to save!

Roxy's Birthday!

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY ROXY!!!

Today's Roxy's 8th birthday and we did a mini celebration for her.
She was pretty excited over the cake. I was too as it's from Canele!!
Ma, Ami & I were at Metro Paragon today for SKII's tea reception for Ma to get her SKII fix.
I wanted to get some moisturisers from Clinique and Laniege with the 20% discount they were having.
We decided to get a cake and it was Canele when I saw it at the basement.
Roxy kinda knew it was for her I guess.
The cake was sponsored by Mummy dearest.
Some photos of the celebration.

Roxy's birthday cake - strawberry shortcake from Canele.

Roxy's tongue!

Waiting for her cake.

Pinch!

Smell!

Yummy ~

All done! Some more?

We got another Macha Green Tea Mousse cake and a Lemon Meringue pie.
Both were heavenly...
This would have at least added on a kilo =P
Time to go workout!

Miscommunications.

Was reflecting on the various miscommunications that happened to me the past year.
Words spoken and words typed can mean a vast difference to people.

I believe everyone had this experience of people getting angry or mis-read over emails, messenger messages, sms etc etc. Come to think of it, if you hadn't have such an experience - please let me know. I would really like to know how to avoid it (please don't tell me not to use these tools ok?!).

Anyway, I've been at the merciless brunt of very terrible miscommunications and sometimes it really pisses me off. Things that I've typed or sms-ed not being read the way I intend for it to be read. It's really scary what repercussions could occur due to 1 tiny misread message and it’s simply frustrating. I am not pissed at the person reading the message; I’m just pissed on why it can’t get across accurately?!

Like I said, I really hate using messenger as a tool to communicate. I would rather call directly. But in some cases, that doesn’t work. I appreciate the convenience of these tools – I seriously do. It allows for endless connectivity regardless of where you are. It’s just the hassle of needing to clear up misunderstandings when and if they happen.

Oh, and how many times have people used emails to ‘prove’ to you that you said something before? That’s scary too. Everyone’s just so careful when they draft emails. Well, everyone wants email to cover their asses too right? So, they’d keep insisting that you reply via email. I don’t blame them. Who could if they are doing it themselves? I know I do =)

Haiz, it’s just some thoughts about attribution error at its ult (together with all other errors).

I think I just have to resign to fate and be ultra careful with my words and the people I use them with.

Sunday - Tony Roma's.

Family time!
Went out with Ma, Ami and Yong (Mich disappeared half way) to book our CNY holiday for next year.

We ended up eating Tony Roma's at around 3plus (not sure if it was lunch or dinner) but we were all pretty hungry by this time.

Miller beer - something I saw for the first time.

I look stupid - was testing out the smile function on the camera. It auto-snaps once it detects a smile. So, that was the reason I look spastic in these photos. One minute - smile and the next minute - don't smile!

Done eating! See the bones on the plate!
We shopped around and then went home. Was good spending time with family..

Shuzhen & Mei's Birthday Meetup.

It's the month of September and it's also the month of 2 birthdays of Shuzhen and Mei.
We met up on Friday for dinner session at Ion.
It's my 2nd time there and I am at a loss in that building. Actually, we all were!
Anyway, we went to a Jap restaurant that had a very long queue outside. The food was not bad.

Group shot!
The food that we had.

\

After dinner, we had cake! By this time, we were really full.
But the cake was quite different - chocolate & banana. Not too sweet.

As we ate cake, we were discussing if we should go to mind's cafe or to sing K.
This was close to 10pm. In the end we decided to go to International Building's PartyWorld. Elaine called to book a 1030pm room. We left the place at 1030. Yeap, we were happily chatting that we forgot the time!
This was when we had problem getting out of Ion to Borders! We couldn't find the connecting link! Went up and down and up again! When we reach PartyWorld, it was 11pm!

Mei was so amazed by the table that she insisted on a shot on her own with the table.

We were all wearing the same jacket coz it was borrows from them!
It was so cold in there. Dor had to work the next day but we still left at 3am. Poor girl had to work every day this weekend due to some new computer programme testing.
I totally had fun on Friday! Can't wait for Elaine's birthday to come in October!

Long Weekend!!

YAY!! The long weekend's coming!!

Haven't been sleeping well the past few nights (late night calls, morning calls, lights from my neighbour's toilet, noise from upstairs at 6am, sms at 630am!) Yeap, it was a terrible week.

I NEED MY SLEEP!

Anyway, I am really looking forward to the weekend ahead to catch up on my sleep as well as to catch up with some friends.

You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift.

Another song by Taylor Swift that I'm hooked onto.
Her lyrics are very real.

">

Songwriters: Rose, Liz; Swift, Taylor Alison

You're on the phone with your girlfriend
She's upset
She's going off about something that you said
'Cuz she doesn't get your humor like I do...
I'm in the room
It's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like
And she'll never know your story like I do

But she wears short skirts
I wear T-shirts
She's cheer Captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up
And find that what you're looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see,
You belong with me
You belong with me

Walkin' the streets with you and your worn-out jeans
I can't help thinking this is how it ought to be
Laughing on a park bench, thinking to myself
Hey isn't this easy

And you've got a smile that could light up this whole town
I haven't seen it in a while since she brought you down
You say your fine
I know you better than that
Hey whatcha doing with a girl like that

She wears high heels
I wear sneakers
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up
And find that what you're looking for has been here the whole time

If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can't you see
You belong with me

Standing by and waiting at your back door
All this time how could you not know
Baby...
You belong with me
You belong with me

Oh'
I remember you drivin' to my house in the middle of the night
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're about to cry
And I know your favorite songs
And you tell me about your dreams
Think I know where you belong
Think I know it's with me...

Can't you see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along
So why can't you see
You belong with me

Standing by and waiting at your back door
All this time
How could you not know
Baby...
You belong with me
You belong with me

You belong with me...

Have you ever thought just maybe...
You belong with me

You belong with me...

September 13 - Happy Birthday Mummy!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY!!
Ami & Mich came back to Singapore last night and man what a trip it was! They met with the typhoon in Hong Kong.
Yong and I went to pick them up last night (or rather wee hours this morning). I asked Ami to help me get my Jill Stuart stuff from Hong Kong. It was a waste that the old Jelly Eye Shadow sold out 1 day before they had gone down! Wanted to get a back up for the color I used almost everyday. Anyway, other than the back up, she got the rest of my list of items for me - 1 lip gloss and 2 Jelly Eye Color N (the new collection).
My new babies in their ultra pink boxes.
The Eye Color - don't they look gorgeous!? The new packages looks nice - less bulky and more detailing. How am I going to bear to throw the containers away after I am done with them!?!
My first JS lip gloss! Look at the cap on this thing - it has a PINK BLING!!
Ami got me the LUSH scrub too - thank you! And, Lao Po Bing!
This morning, we had made plans to meet at ParkRoyal Hotel on Beach Road for a buffet lunch in celebration of Ma's birthday. This place was recommended by Sky.
Second day of testing my new Sony camera. Had done a brief read up of the manual.
My big face in the car - testing the anti-shake mode.
Wider view..

Ma always had problems with shaky images so I got her to try out the camera's anti-shake mode and viola - look at the clear shot of Yong! Guess which camera she's going to get next =P
More photos of us at ParkRoyal.
Family photo...
We got a slice of cheesecake from the desert line and a candle to give ma a surprise. We sang 2 versions of Happy Birthday to her and got her to blow out the candle.
Ma fed everyone cake. Missed the shot for Michelle.
Mine..
Spastic looking..
The mousse there was not bad. Was pretty colorful too!
We took a bit of each desert to try. There were so many.
My verdict in the end is that the food was overall ok for the price of S$34++ with the 25% discount for Visa card holders. If its without the 25%, I most likely won't eat there - would rather choose a restaurant to eat an ala carte meal for S$150 for 5 persons.
We went to watch G-Force after that. The show was so cute. The Guinea Pigs (I heard from Animal Planet that Guinea Pigs are not related to pigs nor are they from Guinea - no idea how they got their name) were so so cute. I think there's gonna be a soar in the sales of Guinea pigs soon.
Back to work tomorrow!
Can't wait for the long weekend next week!!!
