Bali - Kuta, Seminyak beach, Sunset & Dinner @ Deli

Day 3 in Bali - we had the chance to sleep in and wake up to breakfast served in the villa as it was a free day for us. We had chose the items from a daily menu the day before and it was delivered to the villa at the stipulated timing we had given them. Yong had the Japanese set breakfast and I chose the American with banana pancakes, Orange juice, coco crunch, 2 eggs sunny-side up with sausages and tomatoes. The breakfast was really good!

View from the top (don't ask how I got this shot)
After breakfast, it was time to go shopping! We had rented the motorbike for 3 days and we intend to put it to full use. Motorbike rentals are very common in Bali as the distances from places can be pretty far. It's either motorbike or car or taxi. Self-drive car, from my opinion, is not advisable as the roads are real narrow and there are streets that are one-way with no U-turn. So get a taxi if you must but remember to negotiate before you get onto it. FYI, the bike rental was Rp. 160,000 for 3 days - works out to be about S$20+. Pretty cheap huh? Petrol are Rp 4,500 (S$ 0.70) per litre at the petrol kiosks out on the main roads and Rp 5,000 (S$ 0.75) per litre that are from the stores along the roadside.
Yong warming up the bike. It refused to get started on this particular morning. I thought it broke down or something =P

The roads in Bali. This is one of the many 'small' roads. Can you see how narrow the 2 lane street is? Cars are parked along the side which makes the road even narrower! How to drive a car like that? Anyway, we were on the way to Discovery Mall for a little shopping! This was in Kuta area.

We passed by WaterBom - a water theme park in Bali. We went in and came out. The ticket prices were at US$ 23 (S$ 34.50) per person. We stood there for quite some time than we decided to come back to Singapore to go DownTown East instead..hahaa...back to Discovery Mall..
Discovery Mall has a breadtalk in it! Also, it is sea-facing on the other side. The sun was too bright and hot that day we decided not to go out there. But the veranda was really nice and I believe it will be a cool spot to watch the sunset too. Since Bali was a beach paradise with surfers there were Quiksilver, surfbabe, roxy - beach wear shops everywhere (almost everywhere). So I went to the Quiksilver shop and I saw this at the glass door:
I was pointing to it and I told Yong..they are looking for SPGs! To me SPG meant 'Sarong Party Girl'. Mistaken identity! SPG to them meant 'Sales Promotion Girl'. So, SPB obviously meant ' Sales Promotion Boy'!

One thing never changes - children are prized gifts to every parent. School ended! Same scenario on the roads. Bikes parked along the road with parents awaiting for their kids to be let out.

Down the street from Discovery, there was this shop openly selling VCDs, DVDs, CDs, CD-roms and games discs! Erhm, they are of course non-originals. Cheap too! Rp 10,000 for 1 and buy 10 get 4 free. We saw lots of tourists buying stacks! Ok, we bought too *sheepish*.. 5 only..for personal consumption. They were selling it so openly! Oh, they had shops called 'Dolce & Gabbana' which sold all sorts of 'branded' items (not sure if they are real or factory rejects or fakes). And, we walked into a shop that sold 'rolexes'!! hahaha..
Back to real shopping - ROXY!! I think Yong was bored since Roxy had no items for men. So he took snaps of me shopping happily. There was a sale lor!!

I only got this pair of shorts =( Oh, this was a tad loose so I asked for a smaller size and the lady brought me 1 size smaller in a different design. Haiz. Nonetheless, it fit and it was pink..ok la!

We walked back to Discovery where we parked our bike. Yong located the wrong bike! Not funny when you see the photos below. There were rows and rows of bikes parked like sardines in a can!

Left side.

Right side. There's still 1 more row behind me...

Can't resist taking a photo of the Roxy shop on the bike as we passed by it.
Kids - please do not try this on a bike.

Yipee!!

Yong took part of the Kuta coastal road to go back to Seminyak. Photos below:

We decided to park the bike at the villa and head to the beach to do some tanning and wait for the sunset. It was close to 4 at that time. So it was the only relaxing thing to do before dinner.

Me walking to the beach.

Here we are!

The beach.

The sun, sand and sea (and humans).

We saw this person selling kites. The shape was a pirate ship! I wanted to buy one back but Yong stopped me from buying.

Sunset-ing. We decided to walk the beach back to the Kuta Coastal road for dinner. It was about 4km if I remember correctly. PS: we walked there and back so its 8km walk.

Artistic??

That's all folks! It was really fast...

Haha...Don't ask..I duno...

We walked past the bungee jump I had wanted to try. Yong said no!
We walked and we walked. Passed by so many fancy restaurants and we settled on this place. It's within a 24hr mini mart like 7-11. They had a Deli inside and I told Yong, let's eat this.

As you can see - they had many selections. Noodles with soup, pizza, hamburger, hot dog, sandwiches etc etc.

The mini mart was where I went to get Yong his Bintang (his drink with every meal) and my green tea.

Our food! Yong had wanted the beef ball soup with noodle but it was sold out. So in the end, he ate the hot dog, I took the burger and we ordered a pizza and bbq-ed corn to share.

The pizza was really good.

Lastly, the corn! It was fan-ta-bulous! They smeared a little chili sauce with butter on it. It was really tasty but spicy for me too.
After dinner, we walked back the same way on the beach to the villa.

  1. Hey G, bikinis are not really cheap there. Go to the Factory Outlets of the surf shops - you might get better deals. There are a couple there. We only saw it on the 2nd last day so didn't manage to go. =)

  2. Hi G, if you are looking at the branded bikinis they are around S$80. Lulur can get from Carrefour, its cheaper and no need to bargain. the outlets are along Jl Bypass Ngurah Rai.
